WeThrive

Through a learning website and mobile app, WeThrive youth identify solutions to problems in their local community, hone skills as they build business plans, and launch real micro-enterprises where they keep the revenues generated. All WeThrive youth create real companies, make real revenue, real impact, nationwide.

WeThrive works to achieve economic justice and close opportunity gaps by serving underestimated young people 12 to 24 years old from low income communities to rise as entrepreneurial economic leaders. WeThrive provides an innovative curriculum and program models carefully designed to reach those left behind in traditional classrooms. Youth learn critical real world skills like financial literacy, problem solving, leadership, and building social capital. In contrast to existing entrepreneurship programs that emphasize exclusivity, every youth participant receives seed funding, support towards launching their company, and post program support, ensuring that everyone is set up for success.

WeThrive works in over 7 major cities and has gained support from major corporations such as Microsoft, Fossil, AT&T, WeWork, and others. WeThrive has been selected to the Forbes 30 Under 30 List for Social Entrepreneurship, an Echoing Green Fellow, AT&T Aspire Accelerator and featured in major media such as Black Enterprise, Nasdaq and the Boston Business Journal for our work nationwide.

The Name

As individuals, we can succeed and do great things but to truly Thrive it takes a team. Individuals don’t make a difference, teams do. That’s nowhere to be found more true than within the social cause this organization addresses and entrepreneurship as a whole. The logo spelling only “thrive” is intentional. By nature of our brand philosophy, the word thrive implies that there is a “we” or a team striving and achieving goals together.

WeThrive is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.

The Method

Youth Participants learn life skills such as goal setting, public speaking (which builds confidence), and personal finance. They practice these skills each session until they become a habit. Ultimately, we use the business creation solely as a vehicle to prepare our students to accomplish their goals and navigate a path of opportunity.

With passion driven by personal experience, WeThrive’s leadership serves as role models for entrepreneurs rising from underserved communities. We use first-hand knowledge of the problems facing our communities to craft a uniquely engaging curricular approach that helps young people flourish even if they don’t connect with school.

Powering locally committed programming with our own proprietary software, WeThrive is designed to grow quickly to help a generation of students unleash their intellectual and economic potential.
