WeThrive equips and empowers low-income 7th-10th grade youth to rise as entrepreneurial economic leaders. The students we serve are bursting with ideas to break the cycle of poverty, but for too many times in their young lives, they have been told No. WeThrive reaches students in middle school while habits and identities are still forming, giving them an encouraging Yes to their dreams of entrepreneurship – along with the toolset to make them real.
Our staff members train teachers, program staff, and volunteers to become entrepreneurial educators, who guide students through an entrepreneurial curriculum carefully designed to reach those left behind in traditional classrooms. With encouragement and support from their entrepreneurial educators, each student creates their very own company, earning real revenues and donating profits to a charity of their choice.
WeThrive students gain critical life skills, using learning logs, metacognition, and leadership development exercises to build entrepreneurial habits that last a lifetime. They take with them tangible assets including mentors and role models, long-range plans, and a peer network trained to support their success as students and as entrepreneurs.
The Name
As individuals, we can succeed and do great things but to truly Thrive it takes a team. Individuals don’t make a difference, teams do. That’s nowhere to be found more true than within the social cause this organization addresses and entrepreneurship as a whole. The logo spelling only “thrive” is intentional. By nature of our brand philosophy, the word thrive implies that there is a “we” or a team striving and achieving goals together.
WeThrive is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.
